[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Photographer's note:
Apparently it costs quite an effort to yawn...:-)
This is a white lion 'in captivity' living togeteher with a female....
So bad 'in captivity'?
...I could not see any signs of stress at all...on the contrary; they spend the whole day doing nothing and mating (almost the same?).
No hunting, as they are being catered very well:-)
And they do live longer...
So a big yawn must be really hard work.

Wiki:
The white lion is occasionally found in wildlife reserves in South Africa and is a rare color mutation of the Kruger subspecies of lion (Panthera leo krugeri). It has been perpetuated by selective breeding in zoos around the world. White lions are not a separate subspecies and they have never been common in the wild. Regarded as divine by locals, white lions first came to public attention in the 1970s in Chris McBride's book "The White Lions of Timbavati". White cubs occasionally turn up among tawny lions in the Timbavati and Kruger National Park regions. Because the gene is recessive and is masked by the normal tawny colour, white lions remain rare in the wild and only occur when two lions carrying the mutant gene are mated together. The greatest population of white lions is in zoos where they are deliberately bred for color.

Hi Annick.
Exact title and nice portrait. You managed to impress his mood perfectly. Superb work, great details and sharpness, impressive cropping and perfect natural colours. BRAVO and TFS.
Alexei.

Humorous yet eloquent portrait of this lazy guy, Annick.
The setup inside its mouth is so brilliantly captured a dentist would have no problem in giving an immediate diagnosis :-)!
A Happy Holiday season to you too!
Thanks and take care.

Very unusual POV of this lion. Most people try to show the fierceness and you have captured the softer side of this king. Sharpness and detials are great, lighting and colors are perfect.

Hello Annick,
I like the way you filled the frame with the close up.
Details are very well captured, despite you shoted at 280mm, and you were lucky enough to capture a moment of "action?".
The ilumination and colors works great.
Congratulations,
JM

:)) Quite a title and story :))...but i guess, from some point of view, you are right :)
Excellent capture with this "lazy" lion.
The tight crop is great here, making a exceptional compo and concentrating all the attention on the half-yawn :))
The details are very clear and sharp and the colors lovely.
Another 5* portrait!

Bravo and TFS
