Wiki:
The Brown Bear (Ursus arctos) is a species of bear distributed throughout the Northern hemisphere. There is an estimated 35,000 number of brown bears left in the world. Weighing up to 130–700 kg (290-1,550 pounds), the larger races of brown bear tie with the Polar bear as the largest extant land carnivores. The grizzly bear (Ursus arctos horribilis), the Kodiak Bear (Ursus arctos middendorffi) , and the Mexican brown bear are North American subspecies of the Brown Bear. However, DNA analysis has recently revealed that the identified subspecies of brown bears, both Eurasian and North American, are genetically quite homogeneous, and that their genetic phylogeography does not correspond to their traditional taxonomy. It is sometimes referred to poetically as the bruin.

Hello Annick,
Very well composed and detailed capture of a subject I care for very much. My wife and I were blessed with the chance to see a mother grizzly and her three cubs feeding during a salmon spawn this September at Hyder Alaskas' Fish Creek Park.
Love this capture thank you for sharing, Rick

Bonjour Annick,
A le voir ainsi, il a l'air bien innocent cet ours. Bon portrait que tu nous présentes. L'ours est l'emblème de la ville de Berne et je n'habite pas trop loin de la fameuse fosse aux ours.
Bonne journée
Anne

Hi Annick

This is really lovely! I don't know why, but i've always considered bear (no matter of their size and color) to be very very cute :)
This is definately no exception! A wonderful portrait!
The details here are amazing and the DOF is impecable. Also the exposure is spot-on and the look is his eyes is charming and very well captured!
A brilliant post!

I like the crop on this one, Annick.
It highlights the intense stare and the sharp details in the fur around the head.
The exposure is perfect, showing a wide range of values in the brown and gold.
Really a lovely portrait of this big guy.
TFS. : )

very amazing shot.

Hi Annick

What a magnificent post. You do not mention where you have taken this photo, but I assume I won’t be wrong to guess that it was at some zoo. The close proximity of the animal (150mm focal length) supports my speculation because I don’t believe you took this while facing the animal square on in the wild. If you did though I hope your pants had the same colour as the bear to camouflage any unwanted eventuality.

This close-cropped composition is great. It adds to the dimension or size of this spectacular animal. That staring eye was beautifully captured and the bit of wet fur below its mouth lends a splash of interest. The colours are so natural, the details are great, the OOF BG is super, and the exposure was spot on.

Well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot

PS. Sorry it took a while to fulfil my promise, but we had a terrible electric storm over the weekend and my Internet was out from Saturday till late Sunday night.
