Tibia insulaechorab, from the Indian Ocean. The picture was taken on a dark (almost black) background and then the background was painstakingly (manually) removed.
It is a herbivore, belonging to the family Strombidae, that grows to 200 mm length and lives sublittorally on shallow warm sandy bottoms and seagrass prairies. This species occurs quite commonly off the southern coasts of Asia. |
