I would consider this picture my second imagine with a dragonfly.Not at all at the level of many excellent pictures with this insects that I saw here - and even more- in flight. I have still a lot to learn for obtaining a sharper, not overexpose or underexpose picture.With focus on a particular part of the body, like head, wings or entyre insect. With composition, ok, cropping is a solution. Like this one, is a crop from a bigger picture.Increase harpness, and saturation.

About the species, sincerly, I am searching on the internet to identify it. I am still searcing.

So it seems that this is a male of L. depressa.

Species: L. depressa

Mature (blue abdomen) males may sometimes be confused with males of the Black-tailed Skimmer Orthetrum cancellatum, however the latter has a much narrower abdomen and there is no dark patch at the wing-base. Immature males and females (yellowish-brown abdomen) are similar to the Four-spotted Chaser Libellula quadrimaculata but the latter has a much narrower abdomen and a dark patch in the middle of the leading edge of each wing.

Sharpnes can be better as you sayd yourself

The saturation is overwhelming...not as much as to bother but so much that it REALLY draws one into the image. It is as if painted with heavy oil paints...which by the way are almost as pricey as a Canon these days...VERY good work..had I room I would fav it...

You are right Oana, I have the same problems with macro shot, the technique is very tedious! yet, you managed quite well to get a sharp picture of this beautiful "beast" with sharp wings. To get the whole insect, you need to close the diaphragm and then you slow down and then it's not sharp, which is not that easy, isnt' it? And they are fast! Very well done, indeed,
