| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note [French] |
| Frightening hunter of bird, the sparrowhawk of Europe is a diurnal raptor of the wooded areas. Short, broad, round wings and long tail. Long yellow legs. Song: The Sparrowhawk of Europe glapit, piaille, pulls about. The sparrowhawk is rather quiet. It pushes back the intruders by very insistent cries. Habitat: The sparrowhawk of Europe lives wood, the forests and the thickets, even close to the dwellings. Sometimes one meets it in the large parks. Behaviors: One sees it flying over the skirts of forest of a flight characterized by fast beats of wings, intersected with short gliding flights in arc of circle. It very often flies with a slightly undulating trajectory close to the ground to surprise its preys. Mode: It nourishes primarily birds until the size of the geai. |

lovely shot, is this an unablievably lucky shot of a wild bird or one rasied in captivity?
There are 1 or 2 'spots' that I think I would have cloned out just to aid the photo - but the detail is good alothough DOF could have been a little deeper to ge tthe wing in focus.
