A nice plump and well-marked adult female Tetragnatha extensa, family tetragnathidae. The body is approx 10 mm long. Notice the XXL jaws, and the eight eyes in two rows.
T. extensa is a very common spider, especially near water. It is usually fond on low vegetation, where it spins a horizontal, radial web.
The Tetragnatha are known as "stretch" spiders, because, when disturbed, they stretch there legs in front and behind them, presumably in an effort to camouflage. Consequently, it is not often that one manages a picture of the spider when NOT stretched, like this one :)
As usual with spiders, the male of this species is distinctly smaller than the female. |

Bonjour Philippe,
Excellente capture de cette araignée. Bonnes composition et profondeur de champs et focus. Bonne netteté avec une bonne reproduction des dessins et des couleurs de son abdomen.
Bonne journée,
Mariki
Nice shot of the strange looking spider. Good pov.
