[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A female Coelocentrus excitator at work. The very long, hair-like ovipositor is able to penetrate the wood, which is almost incredible in itself. But the most astonishing part of the story is that the wasp is aware of the exact location of a prey (some grub living deep inside the log) and that the egg is going to be laid in it....
The wasp is approx. 20 mm long, not counting the ovipositor.

Salut Philippe,
Détails vraiment impressionnant pour cette guèpe. Les couleurs sont naturelles malgré le flash. Amitiés,
Catherine

Oh Philippe,
I'm craving to do a shot like that myself, so far to no avail. This wasp defies the physical laws by boring into wood with such a fragile ovipositor, incredible. Thanks for presenting this to us.

Best regards
Dietrich
