Face to face with a Hornet, Vespa crabro.
Contrary to popular folklore, the Hornet is quite peaceful... when unprovoked. Don't meddle with the nest, and don't swat an individual : the crushed body of your victim will, like with all social yellow-jackets, emit volatile substances which drive the rest of the colony madly aggressive. Good to know! |
