Callimorpha dominula, the Scarlet Tiger, is a moth belonging to the family Arctiidae .
Common in some parts of Europe, it happens to be scarce in my corner of the woods, so this was a happy encounter!
It is day-flying, but also comes to light at night occasionally.
Wingspan a goodish 50 mm.
Larva feeds on a number of herbaceous plants.
