Yesterday, I presented a female Ichneumon wasp, with a very long ovipositor (a slender tubular structure used for laying the eggs). You can see the photo here or the good workshop with white balance and contrasts corrections made by Mehmet Atatur (mamatur) here.

Here is the male on a flower of wild carott (Daucus carota). The note below is the same than yesterday.

Ichneumonidae is a family within the insect order Hymenoptera. They are important parasitoids of other insects. Common hosts are larvae and pupae of Coleoptera, Hymenoptera, and Lepidoptera.
There are over 60,000 species worldwide - more than any other Hymenoptera family.
Ichneumon wasps differ from typical wasps, which sting in defense (Aculeata: Vespoidea and Apoidea), in that the antennae have more segments; typically 16 or more, whereas the others have 13 or fewer. An ichneumon wasp's abdomen is characteristically very elongated, unlike in their relatives the braconids. This lengthened section may also be segmented. Female ichneumon wasps frequently exhibit an ovipositor longer than their body. Ovipositors and stingers are homologous structures; some Ichneumons inject venom along with the egg, but they do not use the ovipositor as a stinger, per se, except in the subfamily Ophioninae. Stingers in aculeate Hymenoptera - which like Ichneumonidae belong to the Apocrita - are used exclusively for defense; they cannot be used as egg-laying equipment. Males do not possess stingers or ovipositors in either lineage. (Wikipedia)

If I’m not wrong, it can be a Lissonotini sp. of the subfamily of Banchinae.
Banchinae are a subfamily of the parasitic wasp family Ichneumonidae with about 1,500 species; the genera Glypta and Lissonota are very large. The tribes Banchini, Glyptini and Lissonotini are distributed worldwide.
All Bachinae are koinobiont endoparasites of Lepidoptera. The Glyptini parasitise Tortricoidea. Atrophini parasitise a wider range of small moths. Species of Lissonota have long ovipositors able to reach deep wood-boring Lepidoptera such as Cossidae.
Most Banchinae have a stalked diamond-shaped areolet. A lobe of the propodeum www.hymatol.org/glossary/Pictures/propodeum.jpg projects over the middle coxae http://www.hymatol.org/Pictures/coxa.jpg. The propodeum has few ridges (carinae), and the face is described as goat-like. (Wikipedia)

Hi Catherine. Once again this is a fine capture of the insect this time the male. All taken with fine detai land natural colours. A nice pose on the white flower of the wild carott.Against the green BG. well taken TFS.

Well composed and good color tone!
You are focusing it on this insect well and drawing out rich color tone. It is interesting for me to see the insect that has a yellow/red foot, black body and wing with delicate/beautiful pattern. And, it's very good on the contrast between the front and background with blur image as well as total color balance.

Hello Catherine,
A very nice macro of this male Ichneumon Wasp. It is difficult to ID a species in this group as there are so many similar!
The POV is excellent with good use of the limited DOF to have sharpness where it matters, the head, thorax and wings.
Excellent composition on the wild carrot flowers against a fine neutral Bg.
