The picture shows a parasitized aphid (Homoptera: Aphidiidae). The author of the death of this aphid is probably a member of the genus Praon (Braconidae: Aphidiinae)

These are solitary Hymenoptera (parsitoid wasps): that is, only one parasitoid individual develops within one host individual. The female usually attacks nymphal instars of a living unparasitized aphid and lays one egg within the aphid. The developing parasitoid larva feeds on the aphid. Normally, the larva kills the aphid when the aphid is in the last-instar or adult stage. At this point, the aphid is transformed into a mummy in which the parasitoid larva pupates. I don't know exactly, but maybe it is some fungus. There are fungi which are parasiting on insects - Entomophorales.

Hello Marie!
I am not bother friend! I like your photos because they genarally stressed and informative and also parasitological. Great Capture! Regards,
Bayram

Hello Mariki,
Interesting!
An aphid that looks like it has been killed by a fungus desease, or has the fungus attacked it when it was already dead? I can't provide the answer, but you captured the situation well and considering the small size, fairly clearly. The mystery remains...
Thanks for sharing this,
Cheers,
Ivan

Hello Marie!
As you see, here I am again :)
Well, all is on the picture belong to two insect orders. The first - perfectly recognized by you - is an aphid (Homoptera: Aphidiidae). The second is a parasitic Hymenoptera - really the cocoon built under the dead aphid, most probably member of genus Praon (Braconidae: Aphidiinae). This is a group of Incheumonidea specializing in parasiting on aphids.
I believe that this is one of only a few pictures of this group on the net!!! My best congratulation, even if the sharpness and DOF is not perfect :)
Best greetings,
Radomir

Interesting capture Marie..hard to know what we're actually seeing with regard to the fungi vs aphid thing..
Maybe someone on TN will know?
OK - I see Radomir has nailed it down :)
Nice detail considering its very small size.
TFS!

Hi Marie,
A rather gruesome aspect of this aphid hit by some parasite.
The image is of significant documental value.
