[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Beautiful Demoiselle (Calopteryx virgo) is a European damselfly. It is often found among fast-flowing waters. I took this photo a few meters from the Hoyoux spring, witch is the faster of Belgium.
The female has dark brown iridescent wings, a white patch near the tip of the wings and a metallic green body with a bronze tip at the abdomen.
Tomorrow, I will present a male (immature).

Le Caloptéryx vierge (Calopteryx virgo) est une demoiselle d’Europe. Il fréquente surtout les petits ruisseaux aux eaux rapides. J’ai pris cette photo à quelques mètres du Hoyoux, qui est la rivière la plus rapide de Belgique.
Le corps est bleu-vert métallique irisé et les yeux bleu-vert. Le dimorphisme sexuel est important : la femelle a des ailes iridescentes brunes et assez foncées, ornée d'une tache blanche près de l'extrémité de l'aile. Son abdomen est bleu avec une partie bronze à l’extrémité.
Demain, je vous présenterai un mâle (immature).

Hi Catherine,
This is wonderful capture with lovely sharpness and colours. The lighting is superb and the shine on those wings is what i love the most.The muted green BG offers good focus on the subject.

Hello chère Catherine,
Encore un délice de macro-photographie. Cette demoiselle est superbe. Superbe netteté et fond neutre d'où elle ressort bien. Jolie lumière. Par rapport à la règle d'or pour la composition, il aurait fallu plus d'espace devant l'insecte et moins derrière, ok, je chipotte ;-)
