Cantharis fuscais a species of soldier beetles.
C. fusca can grow up to 1.5 cm long. Except for parts of the head and thorax, which are red or orange, this species is completely black. The body is flat and long, with a weak exoskeleton. These beetles have long feathery antennas, and comparatively long legs.
This species is common in large parts of Europe, and lives in bushes, edges of forests, and meadows. They hunt for small insects.
The larvae have black hairs, and also eat small insects. They are very cold-resistant, and can be seen crawling on the snow in winter. (Wikipedia)

La cantharide commune ou cantharide rousse (Cantharis fusca) est une espèce de Coléoptères de la famille des Cantharidae.
Il mesure jusqu'à 1.5 centimètre de long à l'état adulte.
Hormis les pièces composant la tête et le thorax, qui sont rouges ou orange, le reste de l'animal est noir.
Le corps est plat et long, avec des téguments (exosquelette) mou, comme les autres insectes de cette famille de coléoptères (anciens Malacodermes).
Autrefois commun dans de vastes portions de l'Europe, en régression avec la régression de ses habitats et en raison probablement d'un usage accru de pesticides qui peut le tuer lui, ou ses proies.
Il vit dans les buissons, en lisière forestière et dans les prés ou sur les Apiacées le long des fossés ou routes où il chasse de petits insectes ou autres invertébrés (comme leurs larves, très résistantes au froid, qu'on peut même voir ramper sur la neige en hiver.). (Wikipedia)

Hi Catherine,

I like the composition of your photo with the bug placed in the low right corner and with that darck green area in the right of it. You did a very good use of the DOF presentin clear details on all insects body. The soft light you used helps showing even delicate details of insects body. You also got very nice colors on the insect as well as on the leaves arround.

Très belle capture de cette cantharid. Très bonne composition. Superbe netteté. Belles couleurs naturelles. Il y en a beaucoup ici en ce moment, mais ne se laissent pas facilement photographier en se réfugiant tout de suite au-dessous des feuilles.
