[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a Damselfly.
The Damselfly (Suborder Zygoptera) is an insect in the Order Odonata. Damselflies are similar to dragonflies, but the adults can be differentiated by the fact that the wings of most damselflies are held along the body when at rest.

It is photographed with the Lens Sigma 150mm F2.8 APO Macro DG. I hardly used it so far since I bought it 8 months ago or so. I mounted it on the 5D.
It is focused manually and taken handheld. I know the latter is not a good idea; I forgot the tripod’s screw though. I consider the photo an attempt in this ‘category’ of photography.
These insects are very thin. They are rather difficult to photograph perched on the grass in windy conditions. Add to the former that they are quite restless souls.

Concerning the identification it might be a Blue ringtail.

HI Annick,
Atlast I am able to see a superb macro shot from you, who is a very good wildlife photographer and here you have proved to be best in macros also. Superb details and a lovely composition. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Yep! A beautiful subject changing Annick, my dear friend! A splendid macro capture of a damselfly! TFS.

Cheers,

Hi Annick,
You have captured a fine specimen of damselfly. I do agree with you that they never sit still for more than few seconds, very bad models they are :). You have managed a to get good results hand held, may be they are very strong and steady after carrying the 400 all over Kruger :) Nice neat job, TFS
Regards
Anil
