[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
On a Common Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea), you can see a Golden-bloomed Grey Longhorn (Agapanthia villosoviridescens), a species of the Cerambycidae family (Long horn beetles). The following note (English version) is a copy of the note of my friend Luciano (Lousat) who posted a very nice photo of this insect last month.
In Europe a very common species developing in a variety of herbaceous plants (eg. Cardus, Urtica, Angelica, Chaerophyllum, Artemisia, Salvia, Aconitum). Like the other species of Agapanthia genus, the larvae of this beetle develop in the above-ground plant tissues (stalks). They cut off the plant stalk before pupation, create the pupal cells near ground level, and the adults leave the stalks via a newly created exit hole in the side of the remaining stalk.
Body length: 10 - 22 mm.
Life cycle: 1 year.
Adults in: May - August.
Host plant: polyphagous in herbaceous plants.
Distribution: Europe, Russia, Caucasus, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Near East.
----------------------------------------

Hi Catherine,

Both flower and insect are captured well. I can see why it is called "longhorn".

Catherine,
This is so very well done.
Excellent compo, great sharpness and a lovely bg to boot.
May i suggest cloning out the distracting leaves at the bottom rt...will make for a stronger compo, imo.

Bonjour Catherine,

Bon week-end,
Mariki

Hi Catherine

A very beautiful and attractive composition here with this gorgeous flower and the longhorn beetle hanging on to it!
I really like the vertical format here and the very good DOF that you've got, keeping both elements in nice focus.
The colors are also charming and the sharpness is exceptional, too!
Very well done!

Bravo and TFS
