| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This is the common social wasp Vespula vulgaris, a male. You can tell because there is one more abdomen segment visible compared to females and the antennae are distincly longer.
There is another compelling criterion : males don't sting ! The sting in wasps is a modified oviscapte (egg-laying organ) and males of course do not have it. |

Hallo Phillipe
This is a very impressive capture of this brightly coloured wasp. A lovely image done with accurately and wonderful details displayed. Colours, point of view and composition are great. Sharpness is good, and image is well framed. Great macro. I am impressed with the end result. The hair on the insect's body displays well. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards.

Hello Philippe,
the wasp is shown from an optimal point of view. By use of a flash and f/12.0 you achieved considerable
depth of field. Sharpness is also pretty good, the colours are natural.
Best wishes, Peter
