We "designed" our garden to attract as much insects as possible. This is one of them, a Large Skipper (Ochlodes venata) on Brown Knapweed (Centaurea jacea).

CORRECTION : Actually it's a Thymelicus lineola -- European Skipper

Welcome to TN Hans the skipper and I think its a Centurea are beautifully captured. nice one

Good shot! You've captured this Large Skipper very nicely, the DOF is perfect - the flower and butterfly are crisp whilst the background is in bokeh. I'm not 100% certain, but I think a bit more space on the right would have improved things a little, since I'd like to see the entire flower. Very nicely captured :-D

Hans, ik schrijf Nederlands (vlaams) eerst welkom op TN, hier leert men veel, maar uw eerste foto is er ook niet naast, de distel is mooi in bloei en daarop nog een schitterende vlinder, van mij zeker een proficiat waard. Tip, maakt uw foto straks maar een 800x600. deze zal nog beter tot zijn recht komen.

Welcome it TN Hans. Lovely picture to open you account. The DOF and exposure are spot on. My only wish is that, as you made built the composition around the plant, you included the petals on the right hand side. It's a great job you did here.
