Digitalis purpurea is a biennial plant giving a 1,5m high stem with purple or white inflorescence the second year.
It thrives in forested meadows or glades throughout Europe, especially in mountainous regions.
The plant is venomenous and used in pharmacology for cardiac treatement, as it contains important glucosides such as purpureaglucosides A & B.
Extreme care has to be taken with those extracts, as wrong doses can easily become lethal.
