I shot this grey heron early in the morning while fishing in our small garden pond.
Working behind the window and curtains gave me the opportunity to observe him for a few minutes before he became aware of my movements.
This specimen seems to have been involved in some kind of a fight, as his crest is missing.
At least now I know where my fish have disappeared!

Yes, he maybe have a fight because of missing crest.

Excellent photo with also an excellent point of view. Good details and colors. That aspect "unkempt" is something humorous. Also I think that the BG with different vegetation types and diffuse is perfect.

When I first saw the picture, I thought it was a young heron because of the hair on its head and its light colors, different from usual grey herons (i.e adults)
