I see sadness on his face and in his eye. Great portrait Jaap. Detailed feather, his head rimmed by feathers looks like head of leader of Maya in ritual crest. I like nostalgic mood of your picture.

Nice and sharp capture of this birdie, good mug shot and good details in the feathers, good DOF.
Did you translate your note with one of the translation tools? I'm asking because it seems something has gone seriously wrong with the text, it's just about incomprehensible and doesn't make much sense - not to me, anyway ;-))

Als men wil spreken van gedetaleerd beeld, wel dit is er eentje van boven het niveau wat men gebruikelijk ziet. De scherpte en de kleuren Jaap zijn gewoon wonderbaarlijk.

This bird will never win a beauty contest - that is for sure. However it is an excellent capture. Lots of details, very nice colours indeed and a nice tight cropping. Well done Jaap.

Nobody can accuse this guy of being pretty, he is actually downright ugly, and that from me, a birder! But the picture is great, you caught him well, good POV, and there is even a slight twinkle in the eye.
