Here he is again, alive and kicking, the waxy monkey frog!Kinda funny name, but nice frog imo.
This shot was taken inside, in the serpentarium,Blankenbergen.I shot from behind glas, didn't use flash or tripod.

PP : Crop,Brightness-contrast,selective colour,median filter (noise filter),burned and dodged some areas,USM.

hope you like it

Most frogs like cool, moist places. Waxy monkey frogs like it hot. They seal in moisture by giving themselves a rubdown with a waxy substance secreted through skin glands. Climbing to an exposed perch, they draw in their arms and legs and sleep in the sun. They awaken and hunt at night when the air temperature and the rate of water loss are lower.

Excelent view, Kirsten. The lighting is perfect with a sentimental mood. Great details and well done on your composition.

What a wacky frog! Good picture. Very well done. TFP

Very neat! He looks very... regal. and a tad grumpy, maybe.... who knows. The DOF is incredible, I could never get this clear a shot through glass! Thanks!

Good sharp clear detailed image, and a good expression on the frogs face!

Is it Jaba? Do you like Star Wars? It look quite like him :-)

Great shot!

Very good work, the picture looks very good, the details are clear and exposure is good.
P.s.
Did you get my answer?

The return. The frog was a prince...

Spectacular shot...clean... perfect focus...divine colors....

He looks like a Mekon in Dan Dare (you will be too young to remember that). Great shot, very interesting froggy. Well done Kirsten.

What a wonderful pose this guy is giving you. Great focus, color and composition. It looks so natural. Good job!

Excellent shot Kirsten. Very funny looking frog with nice detail and notes. TFS.

Wel een "vreemdeling", hoor !
Van het glas zie ik niks, dus dat is mooi gedaan, niet altijd makkelijk. Een goed (en mischien ook wel een luie) pose van deze kikker, maar het blijft een rare...

Kirsten this is one of your best. Very interesting critter and nice contrasts, sharpness, POV and pose. Very well done.

You know - if you kiss him he might turn into a prince - or he might not too. Good capture Kristin with him posed like that. I love his painted fingers. Well done.

Kirsten, when reading your note, I thought the title of the photo could be Alive and kicking. If so, you could have added to a theme here - Photos with titles of songs.

I like the shot. I have the feeling the animal is not real; it seems to be a toy or something, and that's great. Nice contrast.

Great job.

Great shot, this frog looks great. Focus a bit soft.
Well done.

Hi Kirsten
Good to see you back here
Well, this looks like a baby T Rex, and I love the whole of him. Tfs, I really enjoyed the note too.

Very nice, this is tottaly Return of Jedi....
Vey nice POV and DOF
Congrats.
TFS

Nice picture. Not easy to get good shots like that from behind glass.

This is a really good one of yours, Kirsten.
I like how it comes from the dark to get in the light, and the comfortable pose taken on the branch. Well done also thru a glass, very good natural light helping to enhance details on the skin. Interesting note too. TFS.

Very interesting frog, now I know where Georges Lucas took his inspartion for its STAR WAR movie. Color contrast between frog and BF is very strong. Focus and exposure very good. TFS
