Ciao Ena,
sei riuscita a realizzare una foto veramente eccellente a questa splendida femmina di E. fasciata.
Sono ben visibili le lamelle molto espanse sulle coxe che la distinguono dall'affine E. pennata.
Anche la testa e le antenne, corte e non pettinate, tipiche del sesso femminile, sono ottimamente a fuoco.
L'ambiente naturale e la posizione obliqua dell'insetto, rendono veramente piacevole questa immagine.
Ho fatto una breve ricerca, il nome comune inglese delle Empusa è "Cone head mantis" e si riferisce, ovviamente, alla strana forma a punta del capo.
Con l'occasione volevo farti i miei complimenti per la tua padronanza della lingua italiana.

Your European ones in Hercegovina are a lot different from the ones I've seen in Western Oregon USA. It has a long grass-like neck that ours don't have and a very different shaped head.

Wonderful shot of very interesting and beautiful species! Last year when I was in Turkey I saw a single larva of this species, some 10 mm only :)
This adult specimen looks really danger :)
I like sharpness and colouration too. Note is very professional as for me :)

A great capture of this unusual species of Mantis.
I had no idea that these were found in Hercegovina. This is such an eotic and tropical looking species.
