Dear Friends!
Not so long ago I presented you a very unique stone formation known from the Black Sea Coast of Bulgaria - a stone forest. Today, continuing "stone phenomenas" from this country I would like to invite you to a geological nature reserve Chudnite Mostove localized near village of Zaburdo in Western Rhodopes Mts.

Maybe for the first view this picture does not present anything special - just another rock photo, but if you look at it closer and note the size of the trees, you will see how huge it is :>

Really Chudnite Mostowe (or in English: Wonder Bridges or Marvellous Bridges) is a rock formation which includes two stone bridges made in a process of water erosion by Erkyupryia River.
The river transformed the marble clefts into a deep water cave, the ceiling of which whittled up through time and collapsed, most probably during an earthquake.

Presently the biggest one - here visible on the picture, is 70 m high and 96 m wide ("free space" under the arch is about 43x45 m!!!), while the smallest one is "only" 12 wide and about 15 m high.

As always thank you in advance for watching and your time! :>

I absolutely love pictures that come geologically alive with a history. This is fascinating for me and my wife who is a retired geologist. Thank you for sharing the complete story with super picture.

Hej,
Widze, ze siegnales do archiwum z ostatniego wyjazdu. Ladnie zakomponowane z naturalnym obramowaniem przez drzewa. Szkoda tylko, ze pogoda byla jaka byla...
Serdecznosci,

Hello Radomir,
Beautiful capture of this natural phenomena.
I like your point of view and the way the large "bridge" is framed by pine trees. Beautiful natural colours and sharp details. I don't like caves but I'm curious as to what is in that black hole and how deep is it?
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Merci

Hi Radomir,

What a stunning place. The the nice thing about the picture for me is that it 'tell the story' of the sheer size of the rock formation. Not the easiest of subject to get a really effective composition, but you've a really good job.

Kind regards,

Mike

Hi Radomir,

Hi Radek and sorry for the delay

Wow...this is one impressive structure! It's simply amazing what nature is capable of creating on its own...humans are no match (from all points of view).
Your photo here is great and you managed to show all of it very well. The only thing is that we can't get a real impression of the shere size of it from the photo, because i'm guessing the coniferous trees there are also huge.
Anyway, i'm glad to see this wonder of an arch with such lovely details and from such great POV.

Bravo and TFS
Horia

Hello Radomir,

You present us a very impressive geological phenomenon! It is only when you pay attention to the size of the trees, then you realize how huge this "bridge" really is. This is one more reason to include a point of reference in the picture. Obviously, you couldn't have photographed it without the trees.
This picture drew my attention because there is a similar place (but smaller) in the Piatra Craiului mt. in Romania (you probably have been there) called "Cerdacul Stanciului" which you might like as well.
The composition is good and I love the sky which isn't completely white! The clouds make it look more interesting. I can't find any technical flaws. Just that I would like to visit this place too :)
You present this stone formation in a great way and with good notes! Great job! TFS!

With Friendly Regards,
Eddie

Hello Radomir,
I would like to congratulate you for your 100th posting. I have chosen this picture because I already critiqued lately one of your cicindelas and this is a most impressive picture, I missed.
Amazing what nature can create.
