[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This picture was taken during our Bulgarian holidays in ancient city of Nessebar. Full of tourists, sellers, plastic souvenirs and 'ancient' ruins which are building now, but also with few beautifull, really old buildings and amazing, narrow streets. Unfortunatelly this was one of few days with grey sky, so picture may looks little dull.

Situated on a rocky peninsula on the Black Sea, the more than 3,000-year-old site of Nessebar was originally a Thracian settlement (Menebria). At the beginning of the 6th century B.C., the city became a Greek colony. The city's remains, which date mostly from the Hellenistic period, include the acropolis, a temple of Apollo, an agora and a wall from the Thracian fortifications. Among other monuments, the Stara Mitropolia Basilica and the fortress date from the Middle Ages, when this was one of the most important Byzantine towns on the west coast of the Black Sea. Wooden houses built in the 19th century are typical of the Black Sea architecture of the period.

Very nice portrait.POV,details,proud expression on face,framing,DOF and composition are wonderful.TFS...:-)

Yes, I know the town very well :-) I'm rather negative if backround is concerned. The white sky makes the gull even darker and causes the chromatic abberrations around its head. The dividing line sky/roof distracts attention from the portrait. Just being honest :-) Best greetings! Michal

Nice one Greg! But I miss the Polish blue sky and I can agree with Michal. But you're allowed one dull day on a holiday. Is that the sky I can see through the hole in the beak of the gull? I like your POV looing up at him. A good job, thank you.

I am thinking (there I go again), that perhaps this photo is a reflection of how you really felt about the visit to this place, on this day; and therefore is a good souvenir to have, (better than a plastic one for sure!)

Good portrait Greg. Exposure on the bird is excellent and the details are sharp. Well composed and good POV. The bright sky is a bummer, but there was nothing you could do about that I suppose. ;) Well done & TFS!
