Bluebottle Blow-fly
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
My previous post was about the Anglica mountain flower. Now here is a macro detail of the same flower with the inclusion of a fly. It is obvious from the photo why this fly is a "bluebottle" one - it's the colour that gives the name. The "family name" blow-fly is because these flyes lay their eggs on dead meat which in old English is was said to be fly blown.
I shot this photo in the Bistritsa Reserve at a height of about 1800 meters.
Blow-flies (also frequently spelled blow flies or blowflies) are members of the family Calliphoridae of flies (Diptera). Flies in this family are often metallic in appearance. |

Hello Anton,
Lovely flower with this metallic fly on it. Also thanks for your informative note. Very well done and have a nice weekend.

Hello Anton,
Nice presentation!
Some flowers seem to be fly magnet, while others are not... I wonder why?
Well, fly season is by and large over here now, even if summer came back yesterday... Hopefully it will last over the week-end!
Maybe I miss a tad more contrast in your image?
Greetings,

Hi Anton.
Nice capture. You managed the light very well. All details of white flower are very sharp and clear. And good exposured. With my best wishes.
