This bird was caugth in a ringing camp in Croatia, that's way it is in my hand!We ringed it, took some mesureaments (wing lenght,weight..) and than set it free!

Cettia cetti (Temminck, 1820)

The Cetti's Warbler (Cettia cetti) is an Old World warbler which breeds in southern Europe, and east southern temperate Asia as far as Afghanistan. It also breeds in northwest Africa. It is the only bush warbler which occurs outside Asia.

This small passerine bird is mainly resident in Europe, but eastern populations migrate short distances, wintering within the breeding range.

This is a bird of dense vegetation, usually close to water. A reedbed with bushes would be a typical site. The nest is built in a bush near water, and 3-6 eggs are laid.

This is a medium-sized warbler, 13-14cm long. The adult has a plain brown back, whitish grey underparts, a broad tail and short wings. Structurally, it resembles an oversized Wren. The sexes are identical, as with most warblers. Like most warblers, it is insectivorous.

This is a skulky species which is very difficult to see. It has the to apparent ability to move from one bush to another without crossing the intervening space, reflecting the tendency of this bird to creep through the low foliage.

Males are often only detected by the loud song, which has an explosive plit, followed by the rhythm What's my name, Cetti-Cetti-Cetti, that's it. The female is nearly impossible to find, since she does not sing.

This bird is named after the Italian zoologist Francesco Cetti.

The colours and details here are superb.

However, I think the reason you are not getting many critiques is that the bird is seen in your hand, which suggests that it and some of the others are not wild. Please do include in your notes the reason that you are holding the bird. Is it in captivity? Is it being treated for an injury or illness and then to be released? Do please tell us more and you will get more responses for sure

Hello Ena

A wonderful POV of this cute bird's face.Lovely catch light and eye detail.
My 7 year old daughter said "awe cute little bird" when she viewed it with me.
I think the shot has that AWE factor.
The plumage detail is excellent with lovely natural colours.

Hi Ena, how I wish I could go with you to those camps! It's great that you can hold them, ring them and be so useful with your knowledge, congratulation for your work! I really like the whole series of birds you took from the camp and all the useful notes that go with it. We always see the bird very well and it's nice to see your fingers too. It's sharp, POV is good, thank you!
