The Broad-bodied Chaser (Libellula depressa)
Vážka ploská
is a European dragonfly. The approximate wingspan of the broad-bodied chaser is 70 millimeters. It is active between the months of May and August. It is seen near still-water lakes and ponds. It eats many types of small insects. The female has a brown abdomen with two yellow stripes. The male has a pale blue abdomen. Because of the male's pale blue abdomen, they can be confused with the Black-tailed Skimmer, or the Orthetrum cancellatum. Both the male and female broad-bodied chasers have dark brown, triangular patches at the base of all four wings.

Bonjour Milos,
superbe macro de cette libéllule, la clareté est tout à fait stupéfiante. Netteté impeccable, brillance et transparence des ailes parfaites. Je ne demande si elle arrive encore a voler avec cette aile cassée.

Hi Milos!
Wonderful species which i have not seen in Turkey as for now! Light blue on nice textured broad abdomen. Great pov and interesting blurry vivid bg. Hope that it still can fly although the broken wing.
Ersin

It ends so flying after crowed ;-D

Hello Milos,
Never mind the damaged wing, it is still a brilliant capture. It is not easy to catch this magnificent dragonfly! You present it in a nice pose showing sharp details and lovely natural colours. I like the POV and the composition is excellent.
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Hi Milos,
Very nice shot. I always wonder that butterfly and dragonfly can fly with heavily damage wings. This image is crisp clear with nice color saturation. Composition is great.
JC

Hello Milos,
This is a very sharp macro of this beautiful insect. I wonder if their wings can regenerate... Those colors are very brilliant and it almost looks like if you were using flash :) This is a beautiful capture again, well done!

Hi Milos,
Outstanding shot of this dragonfly. Very sharp and the sheen on its wings are so special. Lovely colours and an excellent POV. The green BG works wonders here and presents a nice contrast. I like its elegant pose and the diagonal composition. Kudos.

Hello Milos,
Fine sharp capture of the Broad-bodied Chaser.
Excellent DOF gives a pleasing green blurred BG and this, together with the sharpness and good compositon make up a first class post. The damaged wing does not spouil the picture at all, but it can lead to a story!
TFS and best wishes, Ivan

Hi Milos.
Every of us have something destroyed inside or outside (in any sense). This is bitter truth but is not a reason to not see the beauty around of us. Your shot is perfect by subject and quality. Stunning POV, sharpness and details. Wonderful nicely coloured and blurred BG. Great composition. Bravo and TFS.

Hi Milos

This is such an amazing shot!
Sure, we like it a lot, even though it's a little damaged. It actually goes to show that no matter how soon, even the top predators like these chasers are never safe.
Splendid details on its body and wings, impressive colors and a terrific DOF that also gave you that bliss of a BG.
I also went on a small trip two days ago and saw exactly how difficult it is to get the right exposure on this males because of the bright bodies. I must sincerely congratulate you for that here!

Bravo and TFS

What a great dragonfly photo! The details and exposure are amazing. You managed that light blue very well and I really like the detail in wings. The entire dragonfly is in good focus. Bravo! I have never seen dragonfly with such thick body.

I guess that's the reason why they have a double pair of wings, they can fly even if they have a wing broken. I love this shot, Milos.
Great sharpness with a fantastic bg and composition.
Congratulations and TFS

Milos, I missed this great shot somehow, so I am very happy to be looking at it now :-).
I thought I was being freakish by showing a Haoverfly with the broken wing, but you are with me, I see :-)!
This is a fantastic capture -- faultless and beautiful.
Thanks for sharing it.

Belle photo de cet insecte avec ses ailes transparente qui nous montre bien les détails des nervures des ailes. Grande netteté et belle réalisation. Amitiés Thomas

Bonjour Milos,
Wow ! The Libellule (in french) had a serious damage, even with it we like this poor fellow ;-)
The "+++" : subject, POV, vivid colors, sharpness, DOF, blurred background, exposure, useful note...
The "-" : nothing...
Congratulations and thanks for sharing.
