Size: 40-58mm
A very widespread, and often extremely numerous species. The male has less orange on the forewing than the female. It is quite a variable species however and is prone to fading towards the end of summer.

Judging by the leaves,the light looked strong but you've handled that very well.

Very sharp capture of this beautiful butterfly. The colors are well saturated and warm. The leaf is a little bright, but no matter. A great shot, Jan. TFS. : )
