Little Lord Sparrow

Well, on a dull day where the weather's been so dark, that I've had the
light on all day it's nice to look back to sunnier and warmer times. We're
just one week from Winter Solstice which means, that in just one brief week
the days will finally start getting longer once more. Summer's no longer as
far away as it was, and the bugs will be coming back eventually ;-)).

House sparrow Passer domesticus.

Male house sparrow has a brown back and light brown chest. The top of his
head (crown) is grey and he is black beneath the bill (bip). Cheeks are
white. The female is brown.

House sparrow used to be one of the most common birds in Denmark. They are
still here in great numbers, but you don't find as many as before.

House sparrows live close to human habitation, both in the country and in
towns.

The house sparrow ressembles the tree sparrow fairly closely, but can be
distinguished by the fact that the house sparrow has a grey crown, whereas
the tree sparrow has a nutbrown crown. Additionally, the tree sparrow has
black spots on his cheeks. The house sparrow is slightly bigger than tree
sparrow.

Excelente Bente... gracias por compartirla.

Excellent Bente... thanks for sharing.

Great shot Bente.
Excellent sharpness, I can see every feather, good composition and colours. Very good note.
Great work.

Excellent capture of this little girl. Spot on dof leaving plenty of details in the plumage. The dark, blue background and the perfect colours really sets her off in a very nice way. Nice composition too.

By the way - the new Tamron 200-500 should arrive tomorrow, if I am lucky so all I need now is some high, frosty sky;-).

Cheeky looking little fella! Very sharp, while retaining a sens of softness in the feathers. I think you could crop some of the empty space at the top to emphasize the bird even more.

Beautiful shot of this little Sparrow, Bente. Love the simplicity of the BG so it spotlights the bird. The light is also lovely on the bird. Great job! I hear my very close friends in Danmark always complaining about this time of year and yearn for the light of summer and the best part of summer that I also took part in is the strawberries of Danmark. I truly believe there are no better in the world than there is in Danmark.

Very nice composition, sharpness and light.
Very well done !

Very good post, everything is under control, I like crop and composition very much. And it is our most common bird!!
Thanks for posting.

Superb shot Bente! And no distracting branches!! ;-) This clean BG really puts the viewers attention where it needs to be.. On this highly detailed, very well illuminated subject. Textbook photo! Very well done!!

What a great shot Bente. So clear and sharp. I added it to my favourites, so thankyou for showing this little lady. Well done...

One of the best Bente. Very good, no nits
Great work

Faultless, Bente. Everything is perfect. Nothing much to say further...

Perfect, I just can add it in my favorites.
Congratulations very well done, a master peace!
TFS.

Killer note, Bente!
And a perfect little Lady too.
No nits, just a lovely picture
Hope you have some sun!

Good sharp image of this lady. the composition is good to, well done.

This species is also declining in Australian cities. Several theories have been proposed but nothing conclusive.

Salut Bente!
Merci

Hello Bente!
Beautiful portrait of this bird who seems to me to be rather young one Male. The young female has no these black feathers on the base of the neck and on the chin. Unless it is a local variant of the house sparrow.
Excellent point of view and good neatness of the image.
A beautiful work: image and note.
Thank you

Very lovely pose this little lady gave you - and a fine capture as well - I like the DOF with a neutral background - thanks Bente - and a Merry Christmass to you as well.

Superb capture Bente and nicely isolated with shallow DOF. The detail is excellent. Great note.

Very good capture of this quite common bird. Sharpness and background are just perfect. Your note is very informative and extensive.
Thanks Bente!

You've put this universal bird on a stage, Bente. Not only the pose on the rock, but the photographic quality makes her a star. Background shows a dull day, but clever handling of the light puts her under the sunlights. Kind of shot I'd like to put in the box as well as you do :-).

Lovely shot.So sharp&very well composed.

What a brilliant photo you made here of the sparrow, Bente. Fabulous light to show all the lovely details and colors of the plumage, a wonderful lively eye, and good DOF. Nothing to complain here, it is just very good.
Happy New Year to you and yours.

Bente, perfect job. Nice POV and composition. The BG highlights the bird, which is cute.

Great job.

I have a tender spot for house sparrows, especially those that live in Canada and brave the harsh winter conditions. The details on this bird are so sharp and clear. It is a pleasure to see. The yellow and green lichen is an added bonus. I like how I can see very clearly the bird's claws. (not sure what is the correct term for them). Very well done, Bente. Spring won't be long now.

Perfect lighting for this cute little Sparrow.
Good DOF and POV too

Regards,

Vincent
