[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I think this may be the Marmelade Fly Episyrphus balteatus, but as I'm not so well versed in all the various types of hoverfly I'm not entirely sure about this ID. If someone could either confirm or point me in the correct direction, I'd be grateful.
* Marmelade fly is a very numerous species which flock on favourite flowers including common poppy, Eschscholzia, fennel and convolvulus.
- If the favourites of these flies also include the Chicory, Cichorium intybus, then this may well be one of that species, becuase this guy and lots of his pals were congregating on a plant of that type.
* Double dark stripes on each tergite are distinctive, but the colouration and size are quite variable.
* Up to 11mm long, similar to Common Wasp.
- This may also well fit the fly in the photo.
Treatment: Crop, brightness +10, contrast +10, saturation +10, USM and resize.

A very nice capture.
Nice sharp detail and colours.
The green background is good too and works very well.
Excellent,well done.

Excellent capture, not easy to take insects in flight. Well done !

Nice moment captured here. I can see the landing gear already out. Well done with this superb shot.

You are absolutely right about the ID Bente - you can know it from the black double bands on the hind body (the only one here having these).

Great shot and very well captured situation with the "landing gear" activated ;-). The non existing background sets the fly off very well and you also have space in front to move into - well done.

Very good high speed capture loads of detail, against a very good OOF. BG.

Well capture Bente
Nice colors and very good composition.
Good note

Bien fait Bente,
en plein vol, c'est loin d'être evident !
jolis ces petits bouts de fleurs bien nets.
beau travail
