First time I see Clavariadelphus occidentalis, and quite a big group of them.
Curious looking mushrooms - so curious it was easy to find the ID.

Clavariadelphus pistillaris (Linn.: Fr.) Donk syn. Clavaria pistillaris Fr. Pestle-shaped Coral. Fruit body 7-30cm high, 2-6cm wide, forming a large club swollen at its apex; light yellow to deep ochre, with a purplish-lavender bloom over the stem; dry, smooth, with longitudinal wrinkles on the lower part of the club; never branching. Flesh firm then soft and spongy; white, bruising brownish. Odor sickly, mushroomy. Taste mild to bitter. Spores ellipsoid, smooth, (7.5) 9-13.8(16) x 4.5-7.5µ. Deposit white to yellowish. Habitat gregarious to solitary in leaf litter, especially beech. Found widespread in North America and also in Europe. Season July-October. Edible.
