Hello my Friends!
After 4 weeks of holidays spent in Scandinavia I’m again in Lodz! :>
And today I would like to show you the first picture taken during this trip.

This is a longhorn beetle Pachyta quadrimaculata (Linnaeus, 1758) (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae: Lepturinae: Rhagiini)
This species is one of only two species belonging to genus Pachyta known from Europe (the second is Pachyta lamed (Linnaeus 1758).
And here are some basic facts about this species:

Distribution: mainly Central, Eastern and North Europe

Habitat: coniferous forests, very often on flowers of Apiaceae

Body size: 10-22mm

Life cycle: 3 years

Adults in: June – August

Larvae host plant: coniferous trees (Picea, Pinus)

Picture was taken in Kolovesi National Park (SE Finnland).

By the way, if you like this group of beetles, please feel free to look at my earlier pictures of Cerambycidae here, here, and here :>

Hi Radomir,

Wspaniały połów.
Ciekawe koncepcji realizacji.
Piękny dzień,
Adrian

Hi, Radomir
Excellent balance of flash with natural light, and outstanding DOF. An interesting subject, also! The image looks very slightly dark on my monitor, but that is a small point.
Regards, Nigel.

Hi Radomir,
one of your masterful shots of beetles. And you do it with a compact. I also noticed that you use 50 ISO. How about the flash, is it handheld? Anyway, lots to learn from such a shot.
Best regards
Dietrich

Your picture is perfect, Radomir, the colours are superbly natural. At the same time, you maintained the information in the picture, we see the whole insect. The POV is perfect. Thank you!

Francine

Hello Radomir,
A superb macro from your Scandinavian trip! P. quadrimaculata is not found in Sweden!:(
The technical quality an POV contribute to make this a great illustration of this species.
Well done and thanks for posting this marvel.
Best regards from Åhus,
Ivan
