Aeshna osiliensis is a trans-Baltic Sea endemic species with a large population in Estonia, Sweden and Finland. Only in Sweden the species is found in fresh water lakes and pools. Typically it lives in saline, brackish or alkaline pools on the coasts.

Hi Pentti

Nice to see that close-up of this very rare species here on TN - Aeshna osiliensis This is actually a species that i've seen very little photos of and it's great to see such a good close-up.
The point of view here is very good and shows the colors and the pattern very well. The details are very neat and sharp and the DOF is good to keep the entire dragonfly in excellent focus.
The color pattern here is really similar to that of Aeshna mixta...it was indeed easy for me to mix them up in your last post :) However, as i said before, lovely to see a better close-up.

Well done, Pentti.
I'm not seasoned in this matter but I agree with Horia that's is quite rare in TrekNature.
I like the background and perch as these are also not common.

Hi Pentti
Very good work. It was quite difficult as the background has similar colours as the dragonfly.
But you've managed very well. the dragonfly is sharp and well exposed.

A good capture in fine focus and natural colours Pentti, the peeling bark in the BG is a little noisy though...

Helo Pentti,

You have presented a very sharp image ofthe dragonfly as you have chosen a very well adapted DOF. Both body and wings are clearly shown as you have made the photo from a good POV. The strong light allowed you to show nice and natural looking colors on the insect and on the tree bark.
