Dyer's Woad (Isatis tinctoria) is originally from South-East Europe, but it was introduced in Finland already before the year 1000 AD. Blue color was obtained from its roots and Dyer's Woad was cultivated in South-West Finland. Nowadays the species is quite rare in Finland.
