Hi Pentti
Nice image of this butterfly.
I've made small workshop I hope, you don't mind. I cropped picture, and I've changed levels to change contrast. The background is rather bright and white spots on the wings are not visible so well, but of course you couldn't change the background :) but when the butterfly is closer it's better.
Best wishes and thanks for sharing
Ania

Hello Pentti,
beautiful rare species well documented with clear details and brilliant colours. Moving closer is risky, I know, but a second try much closer after the first successful shot from safe distance is always recommended - as long as the butterfly stayed on its spot.
The second best choice with a sharp image of maximum resolution is closer cropping - which I suppose might well be worth trying with your original image data.
Good to see this most beautiful species reported from Finland. It has become very rare in most places of central Europe.
Thank you! Best regards,
Peter

Hi Pentti,
Your L. populi is really nice, clear and sharp and eye-catching; I know how exciting it is to be able to bring home a good shot of a rarity like this. It does however suffer from the imperfections that Ania and Peter already pointed out. So I've also tried an amelioration and roughly adjusted about he same parameters as Ania did, but I've also tried to reduce the influence of too much of the cyan on the background pebble stones and I also added a frame so as to accentuate this lovely butterfly. Hope it's o.k. with you...Thank very much for this enjoyable posting!

P.S. Perhaps your Cybershot is too strong on the cyans/blues in the program setup, like some Nikons are too heavy on reds/magentas, etc., which you can always adjust in the camera settings?
