[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Musk Thistle or Nodding Thistle (Carduus nutans) is native to areas extending from France in the West to the eastern parts of the Central Asia in the East. It is an invasive alien in most of the U.S., Canada, South-America, New Zealand and Australia.

In Finland the species arrived with the ballast soil of the sailing ships in 1800s, but unlike in the U.S. the species never became an invasive weed. Most probably due to colder climate.

Currently Reposaari, Pori is the single important refuge for ballast flora in Finland. In many other big harbors from the time of the sailing ships the ballast flora is nowadays extinct or rare due to the development of the environment either by man or natural succession. Musk Thistle is nowadays under a special protection in Finland.

Hola amigo,
original y excelente macro,
detalles y color,
buen trabajo,
saludos

Hi Pentti,
This picture stands up on the gallery!
I like so much the vivid and intense colour of it, against the blue sky as the background.
It's very good the POV and the light incidence on the flower.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,
JM
