Today’s post is also from my trip to Åland, an Arcic Tern. The Swedish name is Silvertärna "Silver Tern"
It’s a common bird up here in Scandinavia round the coasts.
It’s the bird who migrates the longest way of all birds, from pole to pole,
sometimes over 35000 km every year, I suppose they like daylight.
It looks quite funny with the short legs. I hope you like it.

Wow, simply a stunning portrait of this species.
I have seen them on twice on pelagic seabird watching trips off the east coast of Australia.
There is nothing to critique, I doubt anyone could produce a better shot of this species perched. Well done, my friend.

MY FRIEND!
Good to hear from you, better to see your splendid work! I see You are also on Cannon, not Sigma lenses? I made the choise and cut the costs in December. Got the big Bertha in April, my wife was SO accommodating, she really is an angel, allowing me such a lens.
It kicks butt, but it is heavy.
Love this tern, it is so crisp and celaer, great details, as always on your pics.
Take care
Callie

Hi Gert,
what a beautiful catch of this arctic tern. I spent three summers on Svalbard, where the arctic tern is quite common, and one time had the chance of making a picture like this of an Arctic tern on a rock. Unfortunatly my camera's light meter broke and all pictures failed, but this one makes it all good. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Jacob
