Mâle de Libellula depressa.
J'avais remarqué cette libellule qui revenait inlassablement se poser sur la même branche. Avec un rythme régulier, elle inspectait son territoire, prenant le soin de scruter minutieusement chaque point d'eau (à la recherche d'une femelle ?). Plutôt que de l'approcher une fois posée, j'ai attendu qu'elle décolle et je suis venu rapidement me poster vers la branche. Elle est revenue quelques instants plus tard se reposer exactement au même endroit ! J'ai donc pu prendre une série de photos, dont celle-ci.

Male of Libellula depressa
I had noticed this dragonfly which tirelessly to be posed on the same branch. With a regular rhythm, it inspected its territory, taking the care to scan each water point thoroughly (in the search of a female?). Rather than to approach it once posed, I waited until it takes off and I came quickly post towards the branch. It returned a few moments to later rest exactly at the same place! I thus could take a series of photographs, of which this one.

Wow, Emmanuel... The details on the wings are exquisite, and the colors are beautiful. The muted BG shows off the subject very well.

Superb capture pin sharp where it needs to be and a good piece of observation about its habits. the only thing I would of definatly done to the image before posting would of been to clone out the 2 highlights on the water which distract the eye from the subject and would remove with ease with the clone tool.
