| A male Andrena sp. Mining bees are solitary, each female digging a nest in teh ground (hence their common name). Because of that hard work, which the males do not share in, the females are the strong sex in Andrena, and the males look more elegant and fragile - Ladies, no comment please - which this particular picture suggests. They are also more difficult to identify to species level. |
