Red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris)
I came across this little red squirrel early morning and really did not expect to meet anything but butterflies. I had to rush before he got out of reach in the trees and luckily he showed his face one last time.
French squirrels are very wild as compared to their american or canadian relatives. You don't encounter them in cities and red squirrels are very wild and tend to flee high in the trees and always behind the trunks !

You caught this animal just right. I know they scamper up trees very quick so you did well with this.
Have you got another shot with full tail in it? Maybe the tail can be almost as long as the body?
Good capture of the animal just before getting away.
The squirrel was in front of the sun, thus appearing as a shadow. I tried to lighten the squirrel in my workshop.
