[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note [French]
For Felipe Mateo and Cristina (extramundi).Leiobunum rotundum. Order Opiliones. These are not real spiders, but resembles the spiders very much because they also have eight legs. They belong to the class Arachnida like the spiders, ticks and mites, scorpions and pseudoscorpiones. 3500 known species are known. 27 are found in NW-Europe. This order can be divided in three families: Nemastomatidae, Phalangiidae and Trogulidae.
Harvestmen have an oval shaped body. The front and back of the body is grown together in contrast to spiders where the front and back end is separated by a stalk (pedicel). They have two eyes in the middle of their head looking sideways. They are also known as "harvestmen". Most of the harvestmen have long legs, but not all. The Opiliones do not possess poison glands but has instead glands that produce a stinky odor. They also have no silk glands or spinners. Harvestmen eat everything (omnivorous). They catch small insects or eat the decays of any dead animal, bird dung and other facial material, all kind of plant material and fungi. She normally is active during the night.
The high magnifications show the structure of the cheliceral digit and the end of the legs. How one can observe it they are frightening weapons!! ISO 200.

Excellente idée, bien réalisée, ce montage. La photo principale est un peu surexposée, c'est dommage.

Very intesting presentation, all shots have a very good quality, but I find all those smaller shots and arrows a bit difficult to grasp quickly. Could be improved by showing the actual areas in a quare rather than red circle that are then enlarged.
As is, a very good presentation.

Hello Didier. Je refais un petit tour avec les amis de TN... J'ai un 350D mais pas encore le temps de m'en servir. Compliments pour cette photo originale et instructive ! Merci !

Extremely well done, Didier. The information informs us of this unusual arachnid in a graphic and straightforward way. The insets are terrific.

Bonjour Didier,
Beau montage et présentation très intéressante.
Bravo et merci.
Emmanuel
