[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
It’s been quite a while since my last posting both my wife and I have been overseas for the last five weeks, visiting family and friends.

We stopped of in Paris on the way home for a few days and spent a lot of time seeing the sites and taking long walks in the beautiful gardens, I captured this little fellow in the gardens near the Louve, I’m pretty sure it’s a common House Sparrow.

They are actually large finches, and are usually seen in small to medium-sized groups, but may occur in huge numbers. The male has a conspicuous grey crown, black face and throat, and dark black and brown upperparts. The remainder of the under parts are pale grey-brown.

When breeding, the black of the throat extends to the chest and upper belly. The bill also changes from brown to black.

The female is slightly paler than the male and lacks the grey crown and black face, instead having a pale buff eye stripe. Young House Sparrows are similar to the adult female, but are duller with some mottling on the crown, and have a darker bill.

Details; Shot Raw and converted to Jpeg, cropped and re-sized, sharpened for posting

Hello Rick,
Nice capture of this Parisian male House Sparrow. The fluffed up plumage is seen with fine sharpness in this frontal POV and the catchlight in the eye gives life to the image.
Thanks and all the best,
Cheers,
Ivan

You most certainly have given some great artful touches to this one due to perches and framing. It looks indeed as a professionally done portrait. Nice work there big guy with the big lens!
