[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This picture has been taken with a special technique called Digiscoping: photography with a digital camera through a high magnification scope. (http://www.md.ucl.ac.be/peca/test/a.html)
The result is quite often poor due to very high magnification (sometimes like a 10.000 mm lens), you need a lot a light, long exposure thus the bird must not move. Pictures are often very soft and sharpness cannot be compared to a good telel-lens. I tried it for several months and soon came back to my high quality lenses, but this picture is one of my better digiscoping shots showing very well the great blue mantle feathers of the kingfisher.

Hi Tom,

A great capture with you digiscope equipment, the kingfisher itself is well exposed and razorsharp, the FG on the right side is a bit distracting (probably there was something in the way,a straw or something like it) anyway a nice posting and tfs

Hi Tom

A great capture with lovely colours. Interesting technique and note.

Hi Tom,

super subject.
I note your comments about photographing this way, it would appear there's no substitute for a quality lens.
That said, this is pretty sharp, with good clarity.

Gary

Hi Tom,
Well captured, sharp, neat, and aesthetic.

Hello Tom , good details for this technic , very big object in frame but is not as sharp as Tele-Objective system. TFS and good luck.

Salut Tom ! Bravoooo pour cette très belle photo où ce martin-pêcheur resplendit de par ses magnifiques couleurs.
