COMMON KESTREL
These little raptors fly fast and with agility so they capture often their preys while flying. They are also able to remain still against the wind above a spot where they expect to catch a small rodent. You find them also on fences on the side of the roads. They are very territorial and don't like to share a hunting territory with other birds, even if they don't look after the same food. For instance, this chap just landed and flew away immediately from the top of a young walnut tree, because there were two crows on the ground looking for walnuts.

FAUCON CRECERELLE
Ces petits rapaces volent vite et sont très agiles. Ils peuvent attraper leurs proies au vol, mais aussi les attendre en vol stationnaire (position dite "en Saint Esprit") à quelques dizaines de mètres du sol avant de plonger dessus au moment décisif. Ils se nourrissent de petits rongeurs et d'insectes. Ces oiseaux sont très territoriaux et n'aiment pas partager leur zone de chasse, même avec des oiseaux qui n'ont pas la même façon de se nourrir. Le faucon de cette photo venait de se poser un peu acrobatiquement au sommet d'un jeune noyer, puis, voyant que les deux corneilles qui cherchaient des noix au sol ne s'en allaient pas, est reparti aussitôt.

What a great capture with this superb falcon!
The POV is really excellent here and the timing is awsome - getting ready for take-off :)
The details are very good and sharp, the natural colors are very beautiful, the DOF is impecable andthe BG is lovely.

Il y a beaucoup de ces petits rapaces dans la campagne chez moi, mais je n'ai jamais réussi à les photographier, ils sont farouches. Cette photo est splendide. Vous avez réussi à figer parfaitement l'oiseau, dans une belle pose et avec d'excellent détails. Belles couleurs naturelle et joli BG flou qui fait bien resortir le sujet. Félicitations !
