| Couple of ducks mallard Photographed in the mill of Louez. It is a common bird for TN, but interesting for the beauty of the plumage... The mallard is monogamous but exchange of partner every period of reproduction. Several males court a female, some being able even if to couple without making ceremonial bridal. The parade takes place on the water during all winter, for a long time before the season of the reproduction. Males turn around the female. They tighten the neck then throw it towards the back. They stand up by inflating the breast and by whistling, then they raise then their feathers two or three times, finally they place the head forwards level with the water and begin turning everywhere. |
