An Hermann turtle, found during a walk along the Ajaccio coastline. These quite common turtles can be found in the corsican "maquis". This one is quite big, about 15 cms long.
There is a special park near Ajaccio, "a cupulatta", "the turtle" in corsican language.
It is the biggest european turtle park in term of turtle variety.

If you find this kind of turtle, please let it in its environnment but put it out of the road. If it is wounded, bring it to the Ajaccio turtle park.
These turtles are, like other species, victim of fire, cars. |
