[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note [French]
I had patience close to the pond to take some frogs in photograph. But
some jumped suddenly in water. I then noticed that it is this grass
snake with collar which made them flee. I benefitted from it to take
it in photograph.

This species is always held close to water, near the brooks, of the
ponds or the ponds. It drives out during the day. Very voracious, it
nourishes especially frogs, clamping plates, salamanders, tritons and
tadpoles. Sometimes, it adds to this menu already varied of young
birds and small mammals. It consumes also fish. Indeed, it swims well
and can remain more than one half an hour under water. This grass
snake measures approximately at the adulthood 1m50 length.

Maxime

Lovely timed shot, I can imagine the hiss from here. Well spotted as well, i'm sure it didn't stick straight out.

Helo Maxime,

What a great shot of a scene I've never seen before.
Also never knew that a grass snake also did hunt fro the water.
Perfect capture of the forked tongue with which the snake smells its prey.
Wonderful detailsand shadowlike reflection of the snakes head and tongue.
Excellent work and thanks for your patience.

Best regards, Harry

Great capture!
Sharp and clear. I particularly like the fact that the tongue is slightly blurred whereas its reflection is in focus.
I think that there is too much empty space on the right. 2 points anyway!
Regards, Rafal

No wonder the frogs disappeared when this snake arrived.
It's a good shot of it Max, as we can see it quite well under the water also.
BRAVO!
