The field cricket is an impressive insect with a black body and wings that resemble intricate wrought iron work.
This insect digs, at the adulthood, a burrow in the hot and sunny places. Camped on its threshold, it makes resound its familiar song which stops with slightest warning.
A modified area of veins on the male's wings enables it to produce the 'song' or stridulation that he uses to attract a female.

Nice capture Christian, the subject is well capture for such a dark subject on a very light BG , for me its a fraction too tighly cropped but thats only my opinion.

Taz, You did very well with a very dark subject on a very light BG. Great details - I like the analogy to wrought iron describing their exterior..Great job! Footnote: freudian slip - I wrote your name "Tax" rather that "Taz" in error. Damn that IRS!!

Nice macro, I would push a bit more the contrast.
