Note : This big wild Gentian was photographed on the slope of Tournette 2341m, you can see in background the Lanfonnet 1768m.

Name : Yellow Gentian or Bitter Root - Scientific name : Gentiana Lutea – Family : Gentianaceae.
---
Description : This is another magnificent medicinal plant worth growing acres of but which can be very
difficult to grow. In the wild it grows in the Alps, preferring well-drained but moist, alkaline soil and a cool climate. It is an intensely bitter tonic herb that stimulates the digestive system and is used in gentian brandy, angostura bitters etc. This was also used to flavor the bitter soft drink Moxie, and it inspired a new word in the American vocabulary, i.e., someone was said to have moxie.
Habitat : This herbaceous perennial grows in grassy alpine and sub-alpine pastures, usually on calcareous soils. From 500m to 2500m altitude.
---
Photo : Resized and framed in 800x600 for TN.

Now we can see your mountains in wide view! Christian - beautifull! I like DOF in your picture - nice, sunny plant on FG but also amazing peak on BG. And meadow full of flowers. One of your best.

Very nice view of the plant and your mountain, Christian. My major nit to the intersection of the plant with with the citadel. Avoiding this may have a better visual impact.
Thank you for sharing.

Tres belle photo Christian! C'est marvellouse.

I love your composition of this plant placed in front of the BG peak. The plants growing alongside it are so pretty too Christian. Colours and details perfect. Well done and TFS.
I was in Annecy in August 1999, such lovely memories of the area - so beautiful in the mountains is summer.

I like this very much Taz! Superb BG to your Gentian. Excellent colors and details with a vertical composition that is simply brilliant IMO. Very well done!

Salutations Toni
