Female of Phaneroptera nana nana
This bush-cricket lives in trees ans bushes where it is mainly active along the night. This species can produce ultrasounds until the frequency of 20 kHz: many of us are not able to ear it !
I like to imagine that during all the night, there is another (ultrasonic) world which comes in the place, with bush-crickets, bats and so on...
Hope you like it. |

Nice photo Emmanuel. Very good composition, perfect sharpness and pleasant colors. TFS.
Hello Emanuel,
a pretty, lively portrait of that well camouflaged cricket! Perfect colours, perfect details. I love the shadow on the leaf in bright sunshine, and the eyes. The only thing: the very long antennae have been cropped.
Thank you for sharing this lovely late summer picture with us. Very interesting notes, too. Where I live, among others the very similar looking Tettigonia viridissima produces endless sounds the whole night from August to October. Sometimes I wished these would be ultrasonic, too. Best regards,
Peter
